Abstract
In the next two years, the Proto-Sphera experiment will undergo significant upgrades, e.g. the building hosting the experiment will be moved from the FTU assembly hall to the FT hall, and new power supply will enable higher plasma currents, exploring new plasma scenarios. Taking advantage of the shut-down due to the upgrades described above, the current optical diagnostics will be adapted to the new Proto-Sphera experimental hall, furthermore new optical diagnostics are planned to be installed.  In this work we present the conceptual studiy on the design of a Proto-Sphera Thomson Scattering, required for electron temperature measurements, as well as the improvements in the dispersion interferometer, which provides electron density measurements.
This upgrade will enable a full reconstruction of plasma temperature and density profiles. General layouts of the two systems will be presented as well as estimations of the foreseen measuremtents capability (dynamic range, S/N) and proposed calibration techniques.
