Abstract

Using the Gutzwiller variational approach we studied the compressibility for the three and five band Hubbard model with a Kanamori interaction. We wanted to study the dependence of the compressibilit on the number of orbitals and the Hund's coupling. Plotting mu versus n we observed regions where compressibility is deverging and then becomes negative, signalising that in this region system becomes unstable towards phase separation. In these regions one can expect enhanced superconductivity and other broken symmetry phases.
